R. Terry Bennett is a retired founding partner of Skeeters, Bennett, Wilson & Humphrey. His leadership and vision helped shape the firm from its earliest days, laying a foundation rooted in integrity, service, and commitment to the Central Kentucky community.

Throughout his legal career, Terry focused on personal injury lawreal estate lawprobate lawestate planning, and business law. He was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky, the United States Court of Military Appeals, and all Kentucky courts.

A Hardin County native and former U.S. Army officer in the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps, Terry earned his undergraduate degree in government from the College of William & Mary in Virginia. He received his Juris Doctor from Wake Forest University School of Law in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he graduated with honors.

Terry’s professional service includes serving as President of the Hardin County Bar Association, as a member of the House of Delegates of the Kentucky Bar Association, as a Trial Commissioner for the Kentucky Bar Association, and as a member of the Kentucky Bar Association Inquiry Commission.

Although retired from active practice as of the end of 2025, Terry’s influence continues to guide the firm’s values, culture, and dedication to serving clients and the community with care and professionalism.
